Why websites has a Internationally recognized standard and Why we want to follow them ?


The answer is, Standards are placed to make Internet a very better place for the visitors (Website users) and who is develop websites. 


Not only that, also web browsers also need to follow these standards very clearly. If not, web developer cannot meet these standards guides never. 


Web standards ensure that total website is working very perfectly without having any trouble to visitors or developer. Then this is the main target of placing web standards. 


Lets see some standards (Short introductions);

1. Quality of the code (Website) 
   Standard for the Quality of coding will be includes,
• Is your website uses correct Doc Type
• Is your website uses correct Character set 
• Is your website uses valid (X)HTML coding 
• Is your website uses valid CSS 
• Is your website uses proper coding structure 
• Is your website has a good loading speed
• Is your website uses correct javascripts
  
2. Presentation 
   This is stands for the user side. Developer should use proper colors, images, page layout and other elements to present a good website.
   
3. Accessibility for users (Website visitors)
• Proper usage of alt tag for the images
• Brightness / Contrast of website colors
• Ensure will not break website elements on font size changes
• Ensure that no delays for any of menu you uses inside the webpage
  
4. Accessibility for devices 
• Website should able to view in modern and older browsers
• Website content should accessible even CSS does not supported in any browser
• When printed any website page, should remain the correct layout in hard copy
• Website should run over the handheld devices correctly
• Website should have enough META DATA applied
  
5. Website management 
• Is site have meaningful 404 error page.
• Website should have favicon placed 
• Website should use friendly URL's
